London International Disputes Week 2020 will give you crucial insights into the future of the business of international dispute resolution. Through a programme of sessions and events, you will have the opportunity to hear leading experts discuss London’s unique role in the resolution of international disputes while networking with colleagues from around the world. You will also be taking part in the biggest annual celebration there is of the heritage of London as a leading centre for handling international disputes.
LIDW2020 comprises a two-day conference at Central Hall Westminster with:
LIDW2020 will also feature an inaugural, half-day conference dedicated to young DR lawyers, aimed at those more junior in their professions (although all ages and levels of seniority are welcomed). This will consist of a plenary session in which experts will discuss the types of dispute resolution available to younger practitioners. It will then break out into three smaller sessions that explore essential soft skills, including global negotiations, advocacy and developing an international profile.
The LIDW2020 programme will include fringe events organised separately by members. Further details will be added to the programme in due course.
The central conference sessions and fringe events will bring together lawyers, judges, arbitrators, academics and other professionals involved in using or administrating dispute resolution from a myriad of sectors around the world. The event will also draw on the international experience of clients and colleagues and facilitate discussions on the future of dispute resolution both in London as well as globally.
There will be many opportunities for you to network, including a drinks reception at Banqueting House and several other social events organised by members of LIDW.
LIDW is presented by a group of over 70 leading law firms, barristers’ chambers, experts, academics, legal commentators and dispute resolution organisations.
London holds international appeal as a global centre for dispute resolution – whether through its courts or by arbitration, mediation, expert determination or negotiation – built upon a rich tradition of English law dating back to the Magna Carta. The 2020 event comes at a watershed moment for the UK legal sector, as London looks to establish its future role and status as a dispute resolution hub in the post-Brexit environment.
Registration for any other events taking place during the week is separate – please contact each individual event organiser or visit their websites to register.
Ticket prices are subject to a £10 booking fee and all prices are subject to VAT.
To all our colleagues, friends and partners in the international disputes community.
In light of Covid-19, the LIDW events that are currently scheduled to take place in September will be postponed until the week of 10 May 2021.
While this is disappointing, we are keen that the international disputes community is able to make the most of the exciting programme of sessions that we have lined up so we can build on the momentum that LIDW2019 created. We look forward to developing that with you when it is safer for us all to be together in person.
We have been greatly encouraged by the response to the programme and look forward to the rescheduled event delivering crucial insights into the future of the business and law of international dispute resolution. Any ticket purchases already made for the 2020 event will carry over to 2021.
We look forward to welcoming you to the event in person in May 2021.
